So now the scorching hot days are near so there is no chance of getting our phone wet in the rain now. But there are full possibilities of spilling water on the mobile in the kitchen , on the dining table or on the office table , any day. Now the Apple company has also issued an advisory on what steps to take if water spills on the iPhone , so it is worth paying some attention to it. These steps also seem to work in Android phones.
If you have a relatively new iPhone, you may know that if the Lightning or USB-C connector for charging is flooded, the iPhone warns us that charging is not possible right now.
If we ignore such a warning and charge the phone, there may be permanent damage to the phone's functionality or connectivity.
There are various tips circulating on the internet , especially on social media, to save the phone in case of water spills on the phone or the entire phone gets submerged in water . There is a very popular suggestion that ' soaked phone can be placed between rice in a jar full of rice to prevent damage to the phone ' . But the steps recommended by the Apple company after the phone gets wet are the opposite of the recipe with a jar of rice!
The Apple company recommends the following steps in its official advisory (which may also work for Android).
Do not connect the cable for charging a wet phone. Remove the cable if already connected. Do not connect the cable until the phone is completely dry.
Do not even try to open the backside of the phone yourself. Instead , with the charging cable connecting socket to the phone facing downwards, try to shake the phone gently to dislodge any water that has entered the socket. After that put the phone in an airy place to dry. After at least 300 minutes try charging the phone by connecting the Lightning connector or USB C cable. If you still get the alert about liquid in the connector, remove the cable again and keep the phone in an airy place for about a day.
The Apple company insists that do not try to dry a soaked iPhone with compressed air from a hair dryer or blower other than plain air. Do not even try to insert wads of money or paper towels into the recharging slot .
Don't even put the iPhone in a bag of rice, the company says. While doing so, a small piece of rice may damage the phone. The company says that if the phone or the accessory like the cable is not wet, but the alert appears when trying to charge, then the cable or the accessory is damaged in some other way. In such a situation, it will be necessary to take the help of the support center.
