For the first time, NASA is sending a drone helicopter to Mars

New delhi date. Thursday, July 30, 2020

Man has always been experimenting and inventing new things. It has always been interesting to know about the different planets in space. Mars is the most special of these, as it is believed that if there is any planet other than Earth that could be habitable by humans, it is Mars. There is also ample evidence of the existence of water here. The search is still on. The US space agency is launching the Mars mission. The peculiarity of this mission is that for the first time NASA will also send a drone helicopter to Mars along with the rover. For this reason the mission is named Perseverance Mars Rover and Ingenuity Helicopter.

According to NASA, the rover will collect information by walking on the surface of Mars while the helicopter will receive information by flying. The Mars rover weighs 1000 kg while the drone helicopter weighs two kg. The rover is also fitted with a Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer which will get information about the temperature, dust, air pressure and radiation. This will make it easier to find out if human life is possible there. If all goes well, the Mars rover could land on the surface of Mars by February 18, 2021.

The Mars rover will run on nuclear energy

NASA says the Mars rover will run on nuclear energy. This is the first time plutonium has been used as a fuel in a rover. According to NASA, the rover will operate on Mars for 10 years. It has 23 cameras installed. It will also have a seven-foot robotic arm and a drill machine. In almost every mission in space a drill machine is sent along with the rover so that it can take surface samples.

What will work on Mars rover and helicopter

The rover and helicopter will study the atmosphere of Mars. At the same time it will also work to make oxygen from carbon dioxide there. This will make it much easier for future astronauts to go to Mars, as they will have almost all the information about Mars available until then.

The girl of Indian origin has named the helicopter

The drone helicopter that is being sent to Mars along with the Mars rover is named Ingenuity. The name is given by 17-year-old Vanija Rupani of Indian origin. He attends a school in North Alabama, Alabama. In fact a competition was held for what the helicopter should be named, with 28,000 people taking part. The name that Vanija suggested at the end of the competition has been officially stamped. Ingenuity means the inventive character of a person.
