India will get the most advanced destroyer tomorrow, INS Imphal equipped with 90-degree anti-roll BrahMos missiles


INS Imphal: Radar-dodging guided missile destroyer INS Imphal will join the Indian Navy tomorrow. He will be posted to the Navy's Western Command. The Indian-built warship is also equipped with the Indian BrahMos missile system for surface-to-surface attack. Its inclusion in the naval fleet will increase India's strength at sea. This will help provide a powerful defense against China's growing activities in the Indian Ocean region.

First warship named after a city in North-East India

INS Imphal is capable of firing the long-range Brahmos missile. It is the Navy's first warship to be named after a city in North-East India. The name was approved by the President on 16 April 2019. All the trials of this warship have been completed and it will be inducted into the Navy on 26 December 2023. Crest of Yard (Imphal) is the third ship of the Project 15B guided missile destroyer series. It is built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited.

It will be commissioned at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai

INS Imphal will be commissioned at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also be present. The ship was handed over to the Navy on 20 October. 75 percent of the ship is manufactured in India. Apart from this, the missiles deployed in this have also been developed in India. It also successfully test-fired the extended-range supersonic Brahmos missile just last month. The India-built warship was the first of its kind to be tested before its commissioning.

- It weighs 7,400 tons and has a total length of 164 meters

- INS Imphal was handed over to the Indian Navy on 20 October after completing an extensive trial program both in port and at sea.

- Imphal is a state-of-the-art warship, designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau.

- 75 percent indigenous materials have been used in the construction of warships

- Capable of a speed of over 30 knots, this ship is equipped with sophisticated weapons

- Anti-submarine warfare capabilities are provided by indigenously developed rocket launchers, torpedo launchers and ASW helicopters.

- The ship is capable of operating under nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) warfare conditions

- This indigenous warship built by Mazagon Dock Limited has significant contributions from public and private sectors including MSME and DRDO
