Indian astronaut will set foot on the moon within this year, ISRO chief told strategy


Indian moon landing by 2040: ISRO President S. Somnath gave a presentation at the ISG-ISRS National Symposium. He told Indian astronauts the complete plan to reach the moon. His topic was Space Exploration: The Approach and Vision in Amrit Kal. The program was the 32nd installment of the Vikram Sarabhai Memorial Lecture.

A man-rated rocket used in the Gaganyaan project will be built

Somnath said that first we will build a human rated rocket which is currently being used in the Gaganyaan project. These are being called LVM3 rockets. Later they will be upgraded and run with semi-cryo engines. After that, Gaganyan's follow-on mission will be completed. Humans will be sent to lunar orbit by making robots travel to lunar orbit. During this time, ISRO will establish its space station in space.

A mission to send Indian astronauts to the moon

Meanwhile, the next missions of Chandrayaan will continue to be completed. The next mission will demonstrate docking and robotics. He will also return to India after taking the sample from there. This will be a long term mission. After this we will start the mission to send Indian astronauts to the moon. For the first time, Indian astronauts will orbit the Earth in low earth orbit aboard the Gaganyaan. After this, preparations for the space station will begin.

The space station will be deployed in mid-2030

In the mid-2030s, India will deploy a 20-tonne space station at an altitude of 400 km above Earth. Indian astronauts will be able to stay on this space station for 15-20 days. Later this space station will be enlarged. So astronauts can stay for more days.

India signed the Artemis Accord with the US

Seeing ISRO's growing space power, many space agencies including NASA are coming forward to help India. A few days ago, India signed the Artemis Accord with the US. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson has said that they are ready to send Indian astronauts to the International Space Station next year. An agreement is also being made between NASA and ISRO for this.
