At the time when there was no research as to why lake water looks pink, there were many myths but now it is realized that it is a special type of algae and bacteria that gives the water its pink color. Although algae and bacteria do not cause any harm to human and wild life.
Usually the water of reservoirs is transparent like glass when taken in hand. Water has no color of its own but there are some strange lakes in the world whose water appears to be pink in color. Known as Pink Lacs because of its pink color. Once upon a time when there was no research as to why lake water looks pink there were many myths but now it has been realized that it is a special type of algae and bacteria that gives the water its pink color.
Although algae and bacteria do not cause any harm to human and wild life. These lakes are also highly saline like the Dead Sea. Hence swimming in this lake becomes very easy. 10 species of bacteria were found that grow only on the salt, an algae called Dunaliella was found, due to which the color is peaked and red. This lake is not one but found in different parts of the world. The pink water of this lake continues to attract tourists.
(1) Yuncheng Lake - The water of Yuncheng Lake in Shaanxi Province, China remains pink, but when there is a new influx of water after rain, it turns green, which gradually turns pink again. The algae release a special chemical that gives the snail its pink color. From a distance, it looks as charming as if filled with a pink puddle. This lake is believed to be thousands of years old. Yuncheng is included in one of the lakes in the world from which sodium sulfate is obtained. Salt is still produced industrially.
(2) Hillier Lake, Hutt Lagoon and Quayrig Pink Lake- Australia - Hillier Lake is located in Middle Island in the western part of Australia. Even if the water of this lake is filled in a container, the color remains pink. The length of this lake is 600 meters. A chain of natural sand dunes separates it from the sea. This Zil was discovered in 1812. Paperbark and Eucalyptus trees planted around the lake add to the beauty of the lake. Hutt Lagoon is also a 14 km long and 2 km wide pink lagoon located near the northern shore of the mouth of the Hutt River in Western Australia. While Kwairig Pink Lake - located 11 km east of Kwairing in Western Australia on Bruce Rock Road. Here a road passes through the lake.
(3) Retba Lake - Senegal, Senegal is a country in West Africa on the Atlantic Ocean. A pink lake called Retba is known in this country. Cape Verde is located in the north of the peninsula, about 35 km northeast of the capital Dakar. The water appears pink due to the growth of an algae called Dunaliella salina. The color of the water is dark pink during the months of January to March. Around the month of September, when the salt is produced, it loses its pink color for a while.
(4) Salina de Torrevieja Lake- Spain This pink lake is located on the outskirts of Torrevieja, a city on the southeastern coast of Spain. Algae and salt are found in high quantity. The atmosphere is like the Dead Sea of Israel. The water of this lake is healthy for skin and lungs. Salt plants have also been prepared on both sides of the lake. The lake is one of the saltiest and largest lakes in Europe. Due to its very dark pink color it attracts tourists a lot. Located a few miles from Alicante, Pink Lake has beautiful natural surroundings.
(5) Dusty Rose Canada- This lake is located in British Columbia Canada. Very unusual and unique. The water of the lake is not salty at all, no algae is found in it. Other pink lakes are usually colored due to the presence of bacteria and algae that produce pink pigments as a by-product of their metabolism. In the case of Dusty Rose Lake, there are no microorganisms. It is believed that the water remains pink due to the dust from the rocks and glaciers around this lake.
