After a long vacation, the college for various courses has started. Laptops have become almost indispensable even for school students taking admission in college for the first time after twelfth standard. If you are still confused by the question of what laptop to get , let's take a look at what can be done especially when the budget is tight.

If budget is not a particular concern

Colleges for professional degrees like engineering or architecture usually tell their students what specifications of laptop they should buy .

Apart from that , if we don't want to use the laptop very heavily, we can buy a laptop with the following main specifications.

i3 or i5 processor. Ryzen 5 or higher processor if AMD processor. The higher the generation in each processor , the better , of course the price will also increase!

At least 8 GB RAM.

In the storage, it is better to insist on SSD type of storage , it will make the work in the laptop much faster. If the storage is 250 to 500 GB, it will be enough.

If the budget is too much concern

No need to worry even if your budget is very low. You can also buy a relatively good laptop or desktop within your budget. Of course for that we have to opt for a refurbished device.

Refurbished laptops can be bought from computer shops around us and from online sites like Amazon , Flipkart.

It is good to check that such laptops/computers are not more than a year or two old. Refurbished laptop/computer has been previously used by another user. Then a computer engineer checks it and prepares it for resale.

Desktops generally have longer lifespans than laptops. Hence, if you choose the refurbished option and don't need to carry a laptop to college, it would be better to buy a refurbished desktop.

If you want to buy a new laptop with relatively good specifications, then you have to be prepared to spend around 75 to 80 thousand rupees. On the other hand, a refurbished laptop of almost the same specification can be obtained at half the cost, i.e. for around Rs 40 thousand.

Desktops can be found even cheaper. In terms of specifications, CPU with Intel i7 (Fourth Generation Processor) , 520 GB SSD storage and 16 GB RAM can be found for only Rs 16 to 20 thousand on online shopping sites. In such a desktop, the official Windows operating system (mostly Windows 10) and the official Microsoft Office (not the latest) can also be found. Refurbished laptops or desktops can also get warranty benefits. Even with this type of second hand device, three-four years of college can be easily run.

In terms of performance, this specification is very good. The limitation is that being a desktop, it cannot be carried anywhere. Also monitor and keyboard , mouse have to be spent separately. Such desktops mostly lack Wi-Fi , Bluetooth connectivity and web cam facilities.

In short, if the budget is very tight, this type of option can also be checked.
