ISRO will also involve non-tech students in the START programme, providing online training

The Indian Space Research Organization has announced the expansion of its Space Science and Technology Awareness Training (START) program to cover college students and aspirants outside the science and technology stream. ISRO said that START is primarily aimed at graduate and post-graduate students of science and technology, but now participation has been extended to other students and enthusiasts.

Students can register for free

Now START - tentatively scheduled for July-August - will also cover space instruments, lectures on the Indian space research program and research opportunities in space science. Conceived by the National Space Agency as an online, introductory level awareness program in space science and technology. The START program will also include lectures on Earth and near-Earth space, solar system exploration, space mission design and observation, space weather, comparative planetary science, astrophysics and cosmology. Students of any institution or general enthusiasts can register for this program for free by visiting the link https://elearning.iirs.gov.in/edusatregistration/student. Last date for registration is 15th July.

More than 280 institutions approved as nodal centres

The program will consist of 2-3 hours of lectures per day for 2 to 3 weeks through ISRO's e-class platform https://eclass.iirs.gov.in. The lecture will be delivered by scientists from ISRO and the Department of Space and leading institutions including the Indian Institute of Science and Indian Astrophysics. ISRO has approved more than 280 institutes as nodal centers for this programme. Students of these institutions can scroll-select and register through their institution to be eligible for the examinations and qualifying certificates.
