BharatOS for the people of India, of the people of India, by the people of India!
For the security of India's sensitive data, a special type of smartphone operating system was developed
The Android operating system (OS) has long dominated the smartphone market. In second place is Apple's operating system. In the case of Android, the phone manufacturing company can make its own changes to the original Android software , but ultimately the ' new ' OS also remains under the control of various private companies. In this matter there is a big problem of security of user's data. Keeping this in mind, the Indian government has been in the forefront of developing its own operating system for a long time.
Now there is news that India has become self-sufficient in this regard - a company incubated at IIT Madras has developed such an indigenous mobile operating system. Apparently it has been named ' BharatOS ' .
Of course , it is not clear whether he is fully Indian or not. ' BharatOS ' has been developed for computers by modifying an open source OS like Ubuntu into a computer operating system . Given that , there is a possibility that ' BharatOS ' for smartphones may not have been developed from scratch at all , but a modified version of Android itself.
Also , this OS is currently not available to all Indians , it is only being offered to organizations with very strict privacy and security requirements. Keeping all these things in mind let's take a look at the various aspects of this OS.
BharatOS can be installed in any handset. It gives the users complete control over the apps and the most emphasis has been placed on the security and privacy of the mobile device.
This operating system will not include any default apps. Just as Android has a number of apps pre-installed by Google and other companies, BharatOS does not.
BharatOS updates will be available in ' native over-the-air ' mode . The good thing is that the user does not need to take any action to get the updates in the OS. These updates will be automatically downloaded and installed after the initial setup.
This OS will have a private app store as determined by that organization. For example, if the same OS is mandated in the smartphones of army or other government department officers, it can include a separate app store where only the apps that are required by that organization and verified by it are available for download.
This was a very necessary step to protect the data of Indian soldiers , officers , employees as a nation.
