Do you save important documents in WhatsApp?


How do you save your important documents ? The simplest way is to save the originals of all documents in one file. Copies of documents can also be saved along with it. But the old way of saving these documents happened. In today's digital age, we all have started saving Aadhaar card , PAN card , water card , school-college certificate , corona vaccination certificate etc. in digital form. This method of saving original documents in addition to their digital versions is good and convenient but requires some care.

Many people are in the habit of taking photos of important documents on WhatsApp and sharing them with some other family member , but that is not the correct method. If you create your own group in WhatsApp and save the document in it, even after some time, if you enable the setting to delete the chat in that group by mistake, then that important photo can be deleted.

If you have taken a photo of a document with the smartphone camera, it will be saved in the gallery of the smartphone , but in the rush to free up space in the phone, it may happen that these documents are also deleted along with other photographs.

Therefore, if you want to keep important documents at hand constantly, you can take a photograph of it in Google Photos , or scan it and store it in Google Drive or OneDrive by scanning it. From here it is unlikely to be accidentally deleted. Also we can access the digital copy of this document by logging in from any device. Only Google Photos , Google Drive or OneDrive accounts should be protected with two-step verification.

Another way is to use DigiLocker service. In this service , important documents issued by various organizations can be obtained directly from that organization and stored in Direct DigiLocker. Such certificates are equivalent to original documents as per the IT Act.

Apart from this Digilocker has a facility like drive to save our own photo/scanned documents. In this way the document uploaded by us itself is not equivalent to the original document but the convenience of saving it digitally is easy. DigiLocker thus provides a total of one GB of free space for storing documents , which is sufficient for storing documents only.
