A unique dictionary and thesaurus to check regularly
We all need enthusiasm to learn English , but our expectation is that one app , one website , one book ... will make us a master in English! In fact, gaining knowledge of language or any other subject is not so easy. It requires exploring many different sources and resorting to it frequently , on a regular basis.
One of the ways to develop a true , deep and wide understanding of various English words is to read a dictionary regularly. If you want to see and understand one word, then if you cultivate the habit of checking many other words with real interest, then it becomes a matter!
The fun of language is that it contains a lot of words and a lot of words have something fun to do with each other. When we read different words in a dictionary or thesaurus ( find out for yourself if there is such a question ! ) We find out the meaning and other words related to that word , but there is a limit to the words written on the paper . Can't keep up with the imagination.
But , what if the words related to each other are seen in the form of clusters that can change rapidly according to their relationship ?
One such free online visual dictionary is Snappy Words ( http: //www.snappywords/). This website is a dictionary in one way and a thesaurus in another!
When you reach this site and search by typing any word in its search box, the box on the screen starts to take shape of that word and a bunch of words related to it in different ways.
As per the screenshot above, we should try this site by typing ' trial ' , then all the words related to this word, distant or close, start appearing on the screen in the connection of Ekmak. The arrows indicating their connection are of different colors and the circles containing the word are also of different colors. The meaning behind each of these is hidden. Just as all the words in a light purple circle indicate that they are nouns , so the words in light pink are adjectives. Why is the same word more than once in a cluster ? If so, find out for yourself!
If we hover a mouse over any word, we can read the meaning of that word and any sentence containing that word. You can move a word back and forth with the mouse and bring the words associated with it to the center. If you want, double click on a word and that word will become our search word and a new bunch of it will be ready!
This feature is based on a word database developed by Princeton University in the United States. This is a useful and interesting site if you want to know new words in English. Yes , don't assume that regular use of this website will improve your English! Keep searching for such sites and keep visiting them regularly!
