Indian Army develops messaging app, WhatsApp-Telegram for itself

Ahmedabad, dated 4th November 2020, Wednesday

The Indian Army has finally developed a new secure messaging service for its own internal use.

For a long time now, officers and soldiers have been warned against the use of Chinese apps and mobiles by the Indian Home Ministry and the Army. It seems that even the WhatsApp is not safe for internal use by the Indian Army.

So Lashkar has developed an app similar to its own and with end-to-end encryption. This messaging app has been named as 'Secure Application for the Internet (PSI)'. The app for the Android platform on the Internet will feature voice, text and video calling. According to Lashkar, the app is similar to WhatsApp or Telegram in that it has the special advantage of local inhouse servers and its own coding.

The security of this app has been assured by the auditor of CERT-IN, the cyber safety organization of the Government of India and the Army Cyber Group. Efforts are underway to develop this app for the iOS platform as well. This app can only be used by military officers and on the go.
