Can two accounts on Facebook be merged into one?

Many people ask this question for a variety of reasons. Apparently most of the time, after opening two accounts on Facebook 'somehow', people who are bored of handling both have this question!

Sometimes, the newly active elders on Facebook open two accounts by typing their names differently.
