UIDAI provides each Aadhaar card holder with the facility to lock and unlock his Aadhaar number. Create a virtual ID before linking the Aadhaar card. After linking the Aadhaar number, you will need a Virtual ID for KYC related work. So let us tell you how you can lock and unlock your Aadhaar number.

How to lock base number

First of all, you have to go to the UIDAI website. To lock your Aadhaar number, you need to log on to UIDAI's portal https://ift.tt/2khMdZs. After this, you will see the option 'Aadhaar Services' under 'My Aadhaar' tab. Click on Lock / Unlock Biometrics in 'Aadhaar Services'.

Now you have to enter a 12 digit base number or a 16 digit virtual ID. Click on 'Send OTP' with captcha code. After this, you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number. After filling out this OTP, you will have the option to lock the biometric data. As soon as you click on lock, your biometrics data will be locked.

You can unlock your Aadhaar number in the same way you lock your Aadhaar number.
