Almost all experts agree that Google's Photos service ( https://www.google.com/photos/ ) is the best for saving all our digital photos safely for a really long time. The first reason is that instead of our digital photos being scattered in different places like smartphone , SD card , PC in different folders or pen drive or memory card of previous digital camera, it is very important that all the photographs are saved together in one place.
Another point is that even if we wanted to , we cannot keep our photographs/videos safe for long by ourselves.
Computer , smartphone memory , CD-DVD , extra hard disk or pen drive etc. are likely to get damaged at any time. On the other hand, the amount of photo/video taking has increased so much that it is nearly impossible for an individual to keep a safe backup of them all at once in one or more places.
In this situation, Google Photos service can be very useful if you have a good internet speed net connection.
The first big advantage is that its app for Android or iPhone is very powerful.
You don't need to go to the web version of the Photos service on a PC or laptop to use it. If we are not professional photographers, we take photos or videos from smartphones , so it is most convenient to store and manage them in it.
If you keep the automatic backup of photos/videos taken from the phone on, the phone will not be overloaded with photos/videos. We can delete it from phone storage whenever we want. Also , since this is Google's service, they can obviously keep it more secure than we can. It offers storage of photos-videos up to 15 GB , with some conditions (storage limits or conditions are discussed more below).
In ' Technoworld ' we have talked about this service before , however , many people still have some confusion about using Photos service. Let us solve those complications and also know the ways if for some reason we want to return the photographs uploaded in this service.
Google Photos is a fun way to view and share our photos in a variety of ways. But , for the duration of this article, our focus is on demystifying its usage.

Earlier there was such facility , now not. Google's free account gives us a total of 15 GB of free space , which is divided between Gmail , Google Drive and Google Photos. If you take a good number of photographs with your smartphone , and also use Gmail and Drive a lot , then 15 GB of space will be less for you. In that case , it would be fine to create a separate , new and free Google account just for Google Photos . More than one Google account can be added to a smartphone. So , in the Photos app , click on the profile picture , go to Settings and set it to backup all the photos taken with the phone to this new account.
Remember that at the time of these settings , if you keep the settings to backup WhatsApp images or videos in the options of ' back up device folders ' , your photos storage will be full very soon.

No. People who have just started using Google Photos on their smartphones have this question because they do not have a clear understanding of how this service works. They believe that if they get a new smartphone, they will have to download photos from the old smartphone.
Actually it is not. When we upload our photos to Google Photos service or app and turn on their automatic backup option, they are saved in our Google account. That is, it is not only in our smartphone , but reaches the cloud through the app and remains there , visible only in the mobile.
Then when you log-in with Google account in the photos service in any device (PC or smartphone), then all the photographs can be seen in it. For that we don't need to download the photograph again.

Can definitely be done. This is the best feature of Photos Service! The photograph that we take with the smartphone is stored in the memory of the smartphone before. But as written in the first point , if we keep the settings of backup in photos on, then the photos in the memory of the smartphone are automatically uploaded in the photos app.
Assume that in this case we have two copies of our photograph. One is a copy in the smartphone's memory and the other is a copy that reaches the cloud of Google Photos. If you open the settings panel of the Photos app, you will get the option of ' free up device storage ' , if you take advantage of this, you can delete the photos that are in the phone's memory but have been backed up in Google Photos without any worries.
This means that the photo will be saved in the cloud storage of photos , but will be deleted from the phone's memory.

As mentioned in the beginning , it is better to keep our photos in the cloud of Google Photos because Google will be able to keep them safe better than our own! However , if we want, we can download the photo (or video) from Google Photos again to our laptop or PC. One or more photos can be selected and downloaded from the Google Photos app or web service , but if you want to download all the photos at once, you should try a different way.
Google offers a service called ' Takeout ' to download our data from all its services at once . To avail it go to https://takeout.google.com site , sign in and download all photos by selecting only photos. You will be able to get back the quality photos that you have selected for uploading photos.
