If you're a game-loving school-college student or office-goer, you'll be jumping for joy, and if you're a parent or an office boss, the news will leave you reeling! Games that can be played on Android smartphones can now be played on the big screen of PC - Officially!
The word ' officially ' is important in this . Till now the gaming connoisseurs used to access Android games and other things on the PC screen with the help of various ' emulators ' or screen casting facility. Microsoft has also started bringing Android apps to PCs via the Amazon App Store.
Now the whole thing is quite ' official ' as Google itself has launched its Google Play Games service as a Windows app!
It means that now we can install this app in the laptop , log-in with the Google account and play the smartphone apps on the PC screen. In the same game, the level left incomplete in the PC , from the same level in the smartphone, there is also the facility to move forward.
Google's Play Games service , which has now expanded to Windows , offers the same convenience as the way we can play different games and challenge friends in the ' Game Center ' in Facebook or Apple devices .
What are Google Play Games ?
You might be downloading heaps of games from Google Play Store on your Android smartphone and then enjoying it on the phone. This has become the easiest way to play various types of digital games. If you want to go a little further , keep a history of your scores in games , share your score with friends and compete with them, or play all those games on different devices, Google Play Games is the service for you.
Google launched this service in 2013. This service is closely connected with the games in Play Store. You can login to it with your Google account and then take advantage of all the things written above. Of course, until now, you had to use third-party emulators to enjoy Android games on iPhone or PC.
Now play on PC too
From the year 2021-22, Google has started providing official support for Android games for Windows. This facility, which was launched simultaneously in different countries, finally reached India last week. Google Play Games on PC beta service launched in India last week. Due to this, now we will be able to enjoy games made for Android in our phones , tablets , Chromebooks and PCs as well.
Especially, it has become very easy to play games that can be played on Android smartphones even on Windows 10 or 11 laptops or PCs. That too with big screen , mouse and keyboard support!
Of course at present around 100 games can be played on PC. The number of games will continue to increase gradually. You can also play board games like Ludo King or racing games like Asphalt 9 on PC if you want.
Specs required in a PC
A PC needs certain specifications to play these games. If you have a relatively new laptop or PC then there is no need to worry about this. The laptop/PC should have at least version 2004 of Windows 10 or Windows 11 OS , a solid state drive (SSD) with at least 10 GB of free storage , an Intel USD graphics card or comparable system , and a processor with at least 4 CPU physical cores. Intel CPU is mandatory for some games. A laptop or PC should have at least 8 GB of RAM and a Windows admin account to download the Google Play Games app. To play Google Play games in a laptop/PC it is mandatory to have hardware virtualization on (however the steps will be suggested during installation of the app).
How to play in PC ?
The procedure to play Google Play games on PC is quite easy. Go to https://play.google.com/googleplaygames site in your Windows 10/11 laptop or PC . Click the Download Beta button here.
First, a small installer of this app will be downloaded, after double clicking it, the entire app will be downloaded in the PC. If you don't get any notification or warning during installation, you don't need to do any other settings.
After that you can open this app in laptop/PC whenever you want and login with your Google account and find your favorite game from the currently available games in the beta version of the app and enjoy it on a bigger screen than on a smartphone. However, for many games, your computer's specifications may fall short.
