This technology will make humans 'immortal', what is the concept of cryosleep

If you like science fiction movies then you must have heard about cryosleep. This concept is something in which a person goes into a deep sleep. A sleep so deep that waking up years later is like reliving it. This concept is seen in Hollywood films like Interstellar, Captain America and The Boys. In all these films the characters are buried in ice or put into a deep sleep with the help of some chemical.

Where did this journey begin?
There are many people who want to live for years and the result of this desire is cryosleep. Scientists all over the world are working on this technology. The idea of cryosleep originates from cryonics. The concept of cryonics begins with a book. Professor Robert Ettinger of Michigan has mentioned this in his book 'The Prospect of Immortality'. The word cryonics is derived from Greek which means 'cold'. In this process, the human body is subjected to -196 degrees Celsius. So that it can be woken up from sleep in the future. There are many people around the world whose bodies have been frozen and stored in a safe place. In this process, the human body is cooled to -200 degrees Celsius and placed in a container filled with liquid nitrogen. No one has been saved under this procedure, but this hypothesis will lead science down a new path.

What is the cryosleep process?
Cryosleep is a process in which the motion of the human body is stopped with a drug, chamber or other means. These people are preserved in the hope that they will be revived when needed. There are many such scenes in movies, but in reality this is not the case. In 2016, something similar happened to a young man named Justin Smith in Pennsylvania. 26-year-old Justin left home at night and did not return. When his family searched for him, they found him buried in the snow for hours. He did not die despite being buried in the snow for almost 9 hours. His body was frozen. He was not even breathing. Doctors and family members had given up hope. The body temperature of this young man was so low that it was not possible to treat him. Doctors then took him to a hospital that has ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) facility. This machine helps to warm the blood in the body and pump it back into the body. Justin Smith regained consciousness about 30 days after treatment began.

Work Enterprise and NASA are working on this project
Attempts to make this technology a reality have been going on for a long time. Work Enterprise and NASA are working together on this technology. Both these organizations are trying to develop a static chamber that can make cryosleep a reality. Both the organizations believe that if this concept is ready, it will become much easier to complete any space mission. Before sending a person into space, he has to be physically and mentally prepared. Hence, if this technology becomes possible then the impacts during space travel can be minimized.
