Gearing up to make Type-C chargers mandatory in smart devices

What has been discussed for a long time is now likely to become effective soon. US Type-C charger will become mandatory for all smartphones sold in India. Some time ago the European Union took such a decision and made the use of the same charger port and cable mandatory for all types of devices like smartphones , laptops , tablets etc. Newer models of Android smartphones have started using Type-C. But Apple's iPhone and other devices still use different charger ports and cables. It is to be noted that the same charger port-cable rule in India will be applicable only for smartphones , laptops , tablets. This is yet to be decided for low-cost feature phones.
