Inauguration of famous IBM Software Lab at Gandhinagar Gift City


- IBM's labs will give a new boost to Gujarat to prepare skilled manpower for cloud and artificial intelligence

Gandhinagar, dt. 15 September 2022, Thursday

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the famous IBM software labs at Gandhinagar Gift City today. Along with this, Gujarat has set a benchmark in the field of digital transformation in the Digital India Mission.

The Chief Minister said on this occasion that IBM's software lab, which is functioning in Gift City, a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will provide new strength in preparing skilled man power for cloud and artificial intelligence in Gujarat.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the functioning IBM Software Lab at Prestige Tower in Gift City in the presence of State Science Technology Minister Jitu Vaghani, IBM Senior Vice President Tom Rosamilia, Nickel Lamoroux.

On this occasion Chief Secretary Pankajkumar, IBM India South Asia M. d. Invitees including Sandeep Patel, Gift City Chairman Sudhir Mankad, MD Tapan Ray and Science Technology Secretary Vijay Nehra were present.

The Chief Minister said that before there was talk of Digital India in the country, Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister of Gujarat laid a strong foundation for technology-based e-governance in the state. This government has created a new IT and ITeS policy in Gujarat under the guidance of the Prime Minister. It also added that the policy aims to create a conducive environment for the development of the IT ecosystem in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the target for the 8-fold development of the IT sector has been set in Gujarat, and said that such a strong IT infrastructure has been developed in Gujarat that everyone coming to Gujarat for investments in this sector can experience ease of doing business.

Chief Secretary Pankajkumar informed that the dimensions of IT and ITeS policy, IT enabled services, transparent and digital governance are being implemented successfully in Gujarat.

IBM's Tom Rosamilia expressed his gratitude to the Government of Gujarat for the support he is receiving, looking forward to the success of his business ventures with Gujarat and India.

Managing Director Sandeep Patel said that now IBM has been added to the fact that Gujarat has taken the lead in ICT infrastructure and has received extensive investments in this sector.

Gift City MD Tapan Ray and Science Technology Secretary Vijay Nehra assured IBM of the full support of Gift City and the state government.
