How will 5G services benefit consumers?

Ahmedabad. 21 July 2022, Thursday

Dt. Amid reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G mobile service in the country from Gandhinagar on August 15, it is important to know how this service will benefit the customers?

The coming of 5G network is going to revolutionize the field of hospitals, education, agriculture and science. The data transfer speed will be 20 times higher than the current 4G network. But, there is a question whether the customers will get this service as per the current network or not

Achieving higher speeds in 5G may require drastic changes to existing networks. According to mobile companies, base stations on towers are responsible for keeping mobile equipment connected to the network. 5G will have to increase the number of such base stations. In urban areas, a tower has to be erected every 100 meters for which the cost can go up a lot.

In this case a particular building or site or airport will be equipped with 5G network so that it can be affordable. For example, Ahmedabad airport will be 5G ready and passengers arriving there can use it, but as the customer exits its area, it will come back to the 4G network. Simply put, don't expect 5G service to be available for the next five years as mobile service is currently available on the 110 km stretch of Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway.

The current 5G services are expected to be for large business houses, offices spread across the country or hospital services.
