Ahmedabad. May 2, 2020, Saturday
Corona virus has boosted the business of cyber hackers. The people sitting in the lockdown have brought the hackers a bullying business. Cyber hackers have set a trap for people who surf the net all day. Even those who have been using the internet for years fall into the trap of hackers during lockdowns. Newcomers are not surprised when they are trapped, but veterans are shocked when they are trapped.
That's when a new threat for smartphone users came up. According to cybersecurity firm Cybereason, a malware called EventBot is stealing data from users' smartphones. With this malware, hackers steal sensitive data from Android phones as well as data from banking and other financial apps. EventBot begins to access many other information besides personal data, passwords, keystrokes and banking information once installed on the device. Hackers can take advantage of this information and do great harm to users.
This is how an entry is made in an Android device
Event Boot Malware is not available anywhere on Play Store. These third party apps like Adobe Flash, MS Word infiltrate users' devices. After being installed in the device, it manipulates how many apps take permissions and start stealing users' data.
How dangerous is this malware
Cybus Security researchers said the event bot is still in the early stages. However, hackers have prepared it with a lot of understanding and are capable of creating a big and dangerous mobile malware in the near future.
