The longest distance at which the universe has been observed by astronomers

Astronomers said they have discovered the four most distant galaxies ever. These galaxies formed 300 to 500 million years ago after the Big Bang, 13 billion years ago. The most distant galaxy is called JDES-GS-J 13-0, and is the farthest distance observed by astronomers, said researcher Stéphane Charlot of the Astrophysics Institute in Paris.

The masses of all the four galaxies found are very low

The Webb Telescope also confirmed the existence of JADES-GS-z10-0, previously observed by the Hubble Space Telescope, which formed 450 million years after the Big Bang. Charlotte said that the masses of all four galaxies are very small, weighing in at about a hundred million solar masses. However, the discovery in February of six massive galaxies 500 to 700 million years after the Big Bang prompted some astronomers to question the Standard Model. Yale University astronomer Peter van Dokkum confirmed the four newly discovered galaxies as technical tour de force. "The Webb Telescope has observed possible galaxies close to the Big Bang, but they have not yet been confirmed," he said.
