Chandrayaan-3: 'Chandra Darshan' through Vikram Lander's Camera, ISRO Shares Moon Touchdown Video

After the Chandrayaan-3 rover, Pragyan is now walking on the lunar surface. The lander not only made a soft landing on the Moon, but also made India the first country in the world to land on the South Pole of the Moon. Meanwhile, ISRO has shared a video, in which you can see how the moon looked like before the touchdown. This video was captured by the camera of Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-3.

A 2 minute 17 second video of Chandra Darshan

Yesterday, ISRO shared a video of 2 minutes 17 seconds on its Twitter handle. In which ISRO wrote, "The lander imager camera captured an image of the moon before touchdown." The moon's beautiful surface is captured in video from a high-resolution imager camera. As the lander descends, the lunar surface becomes clearer and larger. In the clip, the Vikram lander can be seen landing on the lunar surface in slow motion in the last few seconds of landing.

Landing was done in four stages

The landing of Chandrayaan-3 took place in four stages - rough braking, altitude hold, fine braking and vertical descent. This operation was done very accurately.

How will 'Pragyan' work?

The rover's two payloads will search for water and other precious metals, collect data and send it to the lander. The Vikram lander will transmit this data to Earth. Chandrayaan-2's orbiter will also help deliver the data.

Why mission life 14 days?

The life of a Chandrayaan mission is one lunar day. One lunar day is equal to 14 Earth days. The Vikram lander and the Pragyan rover will conduct research on the South Pole of the Moon for 14 days. Vikrama and Pragyana can only work in sunlight, so they will become inactive after 14 days, when the south pole of the Moon gets dark. Two days have already passed out of 14 days.
