A surgical system 'Mantra' has been installed in a hospital in India. The special thing about this robot is that 'Mantra' robot is completely 'Made in India'. Which can perform many types of surgery. With this system, 25 types of surgeries can be performed at low cost.
How will the 'Mantra' robot work?
A total of four working arms are installed in it. A camera is fitted in the hand. The camera also has an LED screen for viewing photos. This system does not require a doctor to operate. The operating system also has a hand brake to control this robot. There are three parts to this system. The first one is the surgical command center, from where the doctor will perform the operation. Another is that patient side arm carts i.e. robots will perform the surgery. The third is the vision cart, where doctors can see the entire operation.
What kind of surgery will this robot do?
This robot can be used to perform many surgeries. The company that made this system claims that this robot performs 25 types of surgery in a cancer institute. Urology cancer, gynecological cancer, gastro-intestinal cancer surgery can be done by 'Mantra'. Apart from this, cardio-thoracic surgery can also be done.
Features of 'Mantra' robot
Supposedly, this robot system is the least expensive. The cost of a unit is 4 to 5 crores while the cost of the same system at the global level is 15 to 17 crores. A special thing is that this robotic system does not even require making large cuts in the body during surgery. It is also claimed that the patient takes two to three days to recover after surgery performed by robots, while normal surgery takes much longer.
