Now UPI Registration in PhoneApp without Debit Card

Till now, if we want to activate the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) service for our bank account, it was necessary to have a debit card of the bank account. We don't need to have our own bank's UPI app to take advantage of UPI in any UPI app. But the debit card had to be handy to make sure the bank account was ours. By providing debit card number details we can register for UPI and generate UPI PIN.

So till now, since debit card is mandatory for this process, a person who does not have a debit card of his bank account could not use UPI for that bank account.

Now this situation will change. UPI activation with Aadhaar card has become possible in PhonePay, the leading UPI app. PhonePay claims it is the first UPI app to enable Aadhaar-based UPI activation. In this method we have to provide last six digits of Aadhaar card to connect our bank account with UPI on phonepay app. After that, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar and the bank and the process can be completed by giving it.

You must know that UPI can now be availed even in plain , feature phones. Many people with such phones could not connect to UPI due to lack of bank account , lack of debit card. Now they too can take advantage of UPI.
