Share an experience ? Three hundred years ago , an interview was to be given in New Delhi for the post of a trainee journalist in a prestigious magazine of that time. We were all given a printout of one page of the magazine. That said keep reading this. At the time of the interview, it was asked, " Did you read the first page ? " Do you have anything to say about that ?'' The page was read , but there was nothing to say! The editor said, " Many errors were intentionally left in the page. Did n't you see any ?'' said with a sigh that ' no one asked to find mistakes! ” Immediately the editor retorted sharply, “ No one here will tell you what to do. Must understand! ''
It is a different matter that the editor trusted and got the promotion before the probation period was over. The point is, if Zindagiana had practiced a little before the first interview , she might have spotted the mistakes in that page! Don't pretend that times were different , but it is a fact that times are different now.
Now the world has advanced a lot and the tools needed to stay well-informed have also increased a lot. It is in our hands to take full advantage of it or not. When fifty people have applied for a post, pre-interview preparation alone can keep us ahead of others.
Now Google gifted us with a tool to do such preparation (remember , Google was founded by two students preparing for Ph.D.). This tool , called ' Interview Warmup ' , conducts net practice before the actual interview , just like the warm-up of net practice before hitting the actual pitch in cricket . The tool is more useful for IT students, but if you want to know and understand what kind of questions are asked in the global level interview , what things are paid attention to , how prepared we are for it and especially , if we want to improve our performance , then this tool will be useful for everyone. That's it - whether the interview is for a first job or a better job!

Interview Warmup ( grow.google/certificates/interview-warmup/) The named tool was originally developed by Google for people joining its certificate courses ( we have previously talked about these courses in ' Technoworld ' , which give the equivalent of a four-year degree course in six months). Now it has been opened for all people. The concept of this tool is very simple - to prepare us for the interview. We can go to its website and select our field. In it we are asked different types of questions. We answer that question by voice typing and that answer gets typed on the screen. If you want, you can type the answer using the keyboard. Can be edited later. We are then given feedback on our answers in different ways.

Since this tool is developed by Google, it obviously has more emphasis on various fields of information technology. Google offers its certificate courses in the subject , mainly job interviews for the same subjects can be practiced here. On the site we can practice job interviews for data analytics , e-commerce , IT support , project management and UX design. Apart from this Google has also added a section for general fields. By clicking on any of these six fields, we are asked questions about it in turn. Like most interviews, it starts with the question " Would you like to tell me something about yourself ?" With that we are assured that there is no right or wrong answer to any question here , the purpose is only for practice!

When interviewing candidates in any good company, they are mainly asked three types of questions - the background of the candidate, their education , previous jobs , subjects of interest, etc. After that ' situational questions ' should be asked. In which the candidate may be asked what decisions he has made in the past in a particular situation related to the field or post for which he is interviewing or what decisions he will make in the future when a particular situation arises. The third part consists of technical questions that test one's knowledge and skills about the field. Even though all these information are given in the resume , they are asked in the interview and thus our confidence , communication skills , presence of mind and technical knowledge are tested. This tool asks similar questions.

This tool is significant in two ways. One involves the help of various subject matter experts and HR experts. For practice interview questions which are decided according to the field , there is no role of artificial intelligence or machine learning. These questions are decided by the experts of that field themselves. But machine learning is employed for feedback on the answers we give.
Again note that this tool is not a tool to check our own subject knowledge. It is only for practicing why answers. Hence, it does not tell how many questions we answered correctly or incorrectly. There is no scoring or ranking here. ' Insights ' are given based on our answers only . It is our responsibility to improve our performance by working on it.

If the tool is from Google or Facebook, now people's first concern is privacy. Your first reaction to learning about a practice interview tool might be that Google will know our data! In fact Google clarifies that the answers we give on this site are not saved. No one can see it except us. If we want, we can copy and paste our answers into another document. There is also the facility to download the transcript after answering all the questions. Also the point is about practice so you can practice here with only imaginary details without giving your actual details.

You can't learn to swim by reading a book about swimming , exactly , but plane pilots don't walk straight into the cockpit. They are first taught to fly the plane on a simulator.
Yes , this tool also clarifies that it may not be helpful for all types of interviews , for all types of people. It only helps us to prepare for the interview. So far we have been doing this in front of a mirror , in the presence of friends or in front of a coach in a college/coaching class. Now we have got one more tool to prepare for interview. It is up to us to take advantage of it or not!

If you have ever faced an interview and then analyzed your performance yourself, you may have caught some mistakes or patterns in the answers you gave yourself. Like , you might have hesitated while answering some questions. During the conversation you might have repeated certain words or you might have missed words related to the field you are interviewing for or words that show your skills in it (maybe it all backfired and you managed to crack the interview!).
After we answer the questions asked in this tool, it is analyzed with the help of machine learning and we are given insights into three things: job related terms , most used words and talking points). Let us understand what these three are.
Job Related Terms
After we submit the answer , if we click on the ' Job Related Terms ' button, the number of terms related to our field in the answer will be highlighted. Use of words that show our knowledge about that subject. By clicking on that term we can find its clear definition as well as other terms related to our subject (the tool provides a long flexible list of such terms and a brief explanation of each). If these words are smartly woven into one's conversation at the time of the interview, its impact is certain on the interviewee , but if anything more is asked about it, the answer should be prepared!
Most Used Words
You may find yourself repeating words like ' Frankly ' or ' Actually ' in your answers. This tool says there is nothing wrong with saying the same word over and over again. But it may also show our nervousness. When the tool analyzes our answer, it highlights words that are repeated three or more times in a single answer. Clicking on it also shows what other word can be used instead of that word. Even if our English vocabulary is good, some words are repeated unconsciously during the interview. This tool draws our attention to that.
Talking points
Talking points are points that we should mention or drive the conversation forward during the interview. In the answer we give - according to the context of the question - our experience , skills , what we have learned from that situation should be mentioned briefly but clearly. This tool analyzes our response , shows which such ' talking points ' there were and what points could be added.
