If you turn on two-step verification, have you taken the next steps?
We now all know about two-step verification for the security of each of our important online accounts. Each important service offers a feature that allows us to obtain a passcode for additional authentication in addition to our own username and password. For example, in Google account we can get SMS or voice call or in our smartphone a prompt like ' Are you trying to login ' . As a second factor , we can also use Google or Microsoft's Authenticator app to get short-term passcodes.
This arrangement is very important for the security of the account. But even in such a system, special security measures need to be taken.
For example, in addition to your registered mobile number, you can give another relative's mobile number to Google for backup. So if for some reason this code cannot be obtained in your mobile then the code can be obtained in other mobiles you have given.
Do not change or remove the phone number , email address etc. provided in such account . Doing so may result in permanent loss of access to your important online account.
In addition, for additional backup, such a service also provides 10 passcodes that can be used only once when we turn on two-step verification. Always remember and save it. If it is not possible to get a printout of it, take a screenshot and save it under a name that can be easily found. Google , Instagram , Twitter, etc., all well-known services offer such convenience.
Speaking of Google, after going to the page and logging in with your account , you will find these codes in the ' Two-Step Verification ' section in the ' Security ' section .
In Instagram , go to settings by clicking on your profile picture in its app . It will see the option of two-factor verification in security . Here if it is not on then turn it on and you will decide how to send OTP or code. Also , in ' Additional Methods ' you will find your backup codes , good to save!
