Drugs case opened WhatsApp privacy poll, your chat may also be leaked
New delhi date. 29 September 2020, Tuesday
WhatsApp chats of several Bollywood celebrities have come to light during the Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) inquiry into the mystery of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. People across the country have come to know about Sushant's girlfriend Riya Chakraborty and now well-known actress Deepika Padukone's message asking for drugs on WhatsApp. The private messages coming in front are openly flouting WhatsApp's claims that no one can read any of its users' messages, not even WhatsApp itself. This means that the claim that the conversation between the two people on WhatsApp is entirely encrypted has been proven wrong.
What does WhatsApp have to say?
WhatsApp says that the 'end-to-end encryption' feature is always available on WhatsApp, whether you send a message to someone or read someone's message. Many messaging apps encrypt messages between you and them, but WhatsApp's 'end-to-end encryption' feature is designed so that only you and the person you are chatting with can read the message and no one else. Not even WhatsApp.
Because of the encryption, your message is specially protected, which only the recipient of your message has access to view and read, and no one else. The message you send has a special lock and key. This lock and key work automatically. You do not need to turn on any settings or set up private chats to secure your message. Your message must stay with you. That is why WhatsApp does not store your message on its own server after the message is delivered. End-to-end encryption means that the message is encrypted so that WhatsApp and third parties cannot read it.
How to leak if data is not saved?
WhatsApp says its data security policies are very strong, but the fact remains that WhatsApp has a number of flaws in its data security policy. Cyber experts say WhatsApp's claims are false. According to WhatsApp's privacy policy, the company does not normally store users' messages, but the question is how the chat of 2017 is coming up in the year 2020 when the messages are not stored.
Also, if the messages are not stored on any server, then how does WhatsApp provide data backup facility to the users. According to some international cyber experts, in fact any third party can obtain WhatsApp messages either legally or illegally. Cyber case lawyer Virag Gupta says there is a violation of several Supreme Court decisions with the CRPC to provide evidence to the media during a criminal investigation.
There are two things that need to be understood. The first is that your chat is entirely end-to-end encrypted according to WhatsApp. This means that this message can only be read by two people, the first sender and the second recipient, but the fact is that WhatsApp chatting is not entirely end-to-end encrypted. Most people back up their WhatsApp chats to Google Drive, while the end-to-end encryption of the chat ends with Google Drive.
You can also restore your own WhatsApp chat
You can easily do this if you also want to access your WhatsApp chat data. For that you can request data by going to your WhatsApp chat account settings and clicking on Request Account Info. After a week you will get the data which you can download and view your old chat.
