- Added mute shortcut for group chats for future update of WhatsApp beta

New Delhi, 13 December 2022, Tuesday

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature. which gives users the ability to search for groups by entering a contact name on the desktop version. According to the information, this feature appeared to some users after installing the latest WhatsApp Desktop update.

With the new feature, users can get a list of all their recent groups with a contact by entering their name in the search bar. It is helpful for users who have joined many groups on the platform and cannot remember a common group name with a specific contact. It will be rolled out to more people in the coming days, sources said.

Last month, messaging platform WhatsApp was working on a mute shortcut for group chats for a future update to the desktop beta. The Mute shortcut will be displayed at the top of group chats and will help users disable notifications of received messages in the group. Meanwhile, earlier this month, Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company is bringing a digital avatar to the messaging platform.
