After Deepfake, now researchers warn about ClearFake, know about it

ClearFake: The central government has warned people about Deepfake. Fake videos are being made viral on social media by misusing AI. In this regard, the central government has asked the social media companies to take action and make a strict law. Companies are working in this direction. Meanwhile, researchers have also warned people about ClearFake. So let's see what ClearFake is and how it causes harm.

What is ClearFake?

Clearfake is similar to Deepfake. It involves using fake videos, photos, websites etc. to trick people through AI. It sends false information, videos, photos and malware to people. In which with clearfake people install fake software in the system and then steal their personal information from the system.

Targeted at Apple users

Earlier this year, researchers discovered a new cyber threat, the Atomic macOS Stealer (AMOS), a sophisticated malware that primarily targets Apple users. Once installed on users' systems, it has the ability to extract sensitive information including iCloud Keychain passwords, credit card details, crypto wallets and other types of files.

Fraud is done by creating fake websites

This malware was already a threat to users, but now fraudsters inject this malware into people's systems through ClearFake. Using ClearFake, fraudsters are now creating fake websites and asking users to update their browsers. These websites and prompts are designed to trick users into believing the website is genuine and install a browser containing the flawed JavaScript code. As soon as AMOS is installed in the system, it starts collecting all kinds of information and from here the privacy of the users is lost. After receiving information, fraudsters target people in different ways.

How to stay safe?

- To avoid such attacks, software should always be downloaded from the official website. Never install any software from any third party.

- Keep your software up to date.

- Also beware of apps that claim to bypass macOS Gatekeeper protection and don't install them.
