Facebook-Instagram lured kids into 'Likes' trap, 33 US states sue 'Meta'


Meta Is Making Children Addicted | About 33 states of America (USA) have filed a case against the Meta platform and Facebook and Instagram that come under it on the charge of damaging the mental health of children and teenagers by exploiting likes.

According to the report, states such as California, New York, Colorado are among those who have filed a case in the Northern District Court of California against this company owned by Mark Zuckerberg. It is alleged that it has deliberately designed features that make children cheat for likes. This is reducing their confidence.

A case was filed after investigation

The matter was filed after an investigation led by the Attorney General of different states. The case also alleged that the company was collecting data from children under the age of 13 without their parents' permission.

9 more states will file cases

New York Attorney General Leticia James says Meta profited from the pain of children. Its menace has led the people astray. Nine more Attorney Generals are to file cases in this regard, taking the total number of such states to 42. However, Meta claims that its platform is secure. It is disappointing that states have taken this option instead of working with it.

The case filed against Meta has confirmed reports that claimed Instagram could harm teenagers. A study claimed that Instagram increased suicidal ideation in 13.5 percent of teenage girls because it created serious concerns about their body image.
