The car will run on this fuel instead of petrol-diesel, the first such car in the world

New delhi date. 29 August 2023, Tuesday

The auto sector across the world has undergone massive changes in the past few years. In this revolution coming in the world of transportation, India is also moving step by step.

To promote the use of clean energy in the country, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari launched the world's first version of the ethanol-powered Toyota Innova on August 29. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present in the event. This is the world's first prototype of BS-VI (Stage II) 'Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle' developed by Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

According to a statement from Toyota, the ethanol-fueled version of the Toyota Innova will be the world's first BS-VI (Stage-II) 'electrified flex fuel vehicle'. Last year, Gadkari introduced the Toyota Mirai EV, which runs entirely on hydrogen.

The launch of the ethanol-powered Toyota Innova could benefit India in the near future. The launch of this car can reduce India's dependence on crude oil imports. Apart from this, the country's demand for petrol and diesel may also decrease.

40% ethanol 60% electric energy

This new Toyota car will run on 40 percent ethanol and 60 percent electric energy. This is considered to be an important step taken by the Government of India towards alternative fuels and pollution reduction. Running on 60 percent electric and 40 percent bio-ethanol, the mileage can also be compensated. Flex fuel is a technology that allows cars to use more than 20 percent ethanol.
