No clarity yet on price of American drones, opposition could block deal; India ready for dialogue


An agreement has been signed between India and the US to purchase MQ9B Predator drones with advanced technology. Recently, during PM Narendra Modi's state visit to America, it was given the final stamp. A day ago, senior Congress leader Pawan Kheda held a press conference and raised questions on this deal. Top government sources said that the cost of the drone has not been decided yet. The Predator drone MQ9B is built with HALE technology. After America, India is going to be the second country to have this technology.

No agreement yet on price: Sources

A Defense Ministry official said, without going into enemy territory, Predator drones will capture the activities going on there. Along with this, it also has the ability to fire weapons. Two things are quite clear that this is the latest technology. America is ready for maximum transfer of technology. However, according to sources, there is no agreement yet on its price.


This issue has not come up in CCS either

The Congress party had alleged that the Predator drone was bought at four times the price on the lines of the Rafale deal. Calling it junk, the quality of the technology was questioned. It has been said from government sources that, 'The price of this drone has not been decided between the two countries yet. It can be increased or decreased as per requirement. The issue of casting has not even come up in the CCS (Cabinet Committee on Security).
