Airplane mode will not be indispensable during flights in Europe

Whether it is safe or not to use electronic gadgets like smartphones , tablets or laptops in a flying plane has been a subject of constant debate. There is a view that these devices, especially when mobile connectivity is on, interfere with the signal from the plane to the air control tower on the ground. This is why in an ongoing flight it is allowed to turn on airplane mode in various devices and then do any kind of work in these devices. However, many people have experienced that even if they forget to turn on airplane mode during an ongoing flight and continue their work, the plane does not crash!

This experience of people is now being supported by experts and maybe that is why it will not be mandatory to turn on airplane mode in flights in European Union countries from June next year. According to a new decision by the European Union, airlines will now be able to offer 5G mobile connectivity on flights and passengers will be able to continue operating with 5G connectivity on their devices without airplane mode. However, the use of mobile phones, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, has been allowed on planes around the world to some extent. It is also to be noted that the band used for mobile connectivity in European Union countries has not been found to cause any obstruction to the communication of the pilot of the plane , hence such a concession has been made.

However, apart from security, Airplane Mode is useful for another reason. If you are not going to use the mobile network during air travel , it is imperative to put the mobile on airplane mode , otherwise the mobile constantly tries to get network connectivity during the flight and as a result its battery drains faster!
