Standardization is finally coming to smart home devices


Currently, various tech companies are developing different types of smart home devices. All these devices have their own unique ecosystem. That is, an app or system developed for one type of device will not work in another company's smart home device!

Something like this was the case with mobile phones years ago in terms of hardware. The ports for charging are different in each company's mobile, so we have to keep a separate charging cable for each phone. With the advent of Android phones, there was relief in this regard and there was standardization in the matter of charging cables. In this regard, the Apple company has maintained its own separate method until recently. But now it is also likely to have a Type-C type , Android-like standardization.

Companies developing smart home devices were also trying to bring this kind of standardization in terms of software or apps. It finally seems to have succeeded. Around 300 companies developing smart devices have jointly developed a single standard called ' MATTER ' . Open source technical specifications have been developed under Mater , using which any company can develop software that can be used in smart devices of different companies without modification. Until now Amazon , Apple , Google , Samsung etc. companies had developed their own proprietary software ecosystem , now due to the preparation of a common base platform under the auspices of Mater, there will be no such fence.

Currently, companies like Apple , Google and Amazon have announced support for the Mater standard. As we are rapidly moving towards the ' Internet of Things ' i.e. home lighting, refrigerators , ACs , washing machines, etc., all appliances are connected to the Internet, such standardization is beneficial for all.
