Methane gas leak in Antarctica, its impact worrying: Scientists

The unfortunate news is coming from Antarctica. In which scientists have obtained information about the now leaking methane gas from its ocean surface. No one has been able to estimate why and how methane leaked into the Antarctic seabed. Antarctica's sea surface contains large amounts of methane gas, which has been linked to rising ocean temperatures. Which scientists have said is very worrying. However, the location of the leak is shown in Ross C. The spot was first discovered in 2011, then in 2016 scientists focused on the area for research and have been monitoring the situation there ever since.

Andrew Thurber, the study's lead researcher, said leakage alone was not a concern. There is another concern. In fact, even the microbes found here are describing the deteriorating situation here.

Any such unforeseen change is usually seen in connection with climate change. The biggest reason for this is the emission of harmful gases and this has had a very bad effect on the nature and marine life of the oceans. Thurber considers this discovery to be a natural laboratory that will come in handy in further research. The leak is a little ahead of an active volcano but they do not agree that the leak may have been caused by a volcano.

According to scientists, the sea level has risen due to large emissions of methane. This could worsen the situation on the beach in the near future. The absence of gas consuming germs here could also lead to future gas leakage into the atmosphere. In the discovery, Thurber also claimed that the micro-organisms living there were also being affected. He estimates that the situation in Antarctica could worsen in the next 10 years. This is not the first time that methane leak information has been obtained. The first such leak was reported in South Georgia in 2014, the first case of methane leakage in the South Ocean. This type of leakage is worrisome as it is in a different marine area. Its effect on different life situations can be felt there.

All searches in the area were halted due to the Corona epidemic. There was a risk of spreading the infection to a remote area if the coronavirus continued to work during the time.
